I don’t think there is a human out there who doesn’t favour a quote. Everyone has their own favourite. As a teen, I often went through quotes of people I found fascinating. It was my way of peering into their brains, understanding their thought process. Sometimes, it was a portal to hope, dreams.
As I got older, quotes lost their magic. What was once a fascination became realisation. Good quotes are not composed or envisioned. They are memories, experiences of life that reflect words and felt emotions. A summary of events shortened in one sentence.
Nowadays, I still enjoy reading quotes. But I do it differently. I try to understand what the author had to go through to pen such a quote. What memory or experience made him write those thoughts. This gives me a more realistic view. A dose of reality.
I will be honest - I’m not entirely sure what prompted this post. Yesterday I decided to increase my posting to 5 days a week, excluding Sat and Sun. So .. while I adjust and get into more investing/financial topics, an odd post might come about.
What is your favourite quote?
Here’s what’s above my desk: You can and you will!
